BACKYARD SAFARI

Back
One beautiful sunny day the girls decided             to go on safari in their backyard.
"I am all ready to shoot some animals!"
Emmie cried, brandishing a very big gun!
"Oh!  No, dear!" cried Ariette.  " We will be shooting                                 the animals with these!"
And she handed Emmie a camera.
"We will take many beautiful pictures to                show Maman!" said Evie.
The girls checked their equipment.
"I have the canteen in case we get                          thirsty!' said Jacquie.
"I have the binoculars so we can see all            the animals!" said Mandie.
"And here are the map and compass so         we do not get lost!" said Aubrey.
             And so they started off.
Mandie scanned the deep, dark jungle                        for signs of life.
Suddenly there came a loud trumpet, and a huge bull     elephant came crashing  through the undergrowth!
Next they spied some zebras peacefully grazing                                on the savanna.
Some lovely long-necked giraffes were feeding                                      nearby.
But watch out!  A hungry lion is waiting                 to ambush his dinner!!
Down by the river Mr. Hippo is searching for a succulent bite of grass.
At the campsite the girls set up their tent.
Suddenly there is a commotion in the camp!
A wandering band of monkeys has
                        come to call!
They want to be friends!
   Can we keep them?
Goodbye monkeys!
Don't shoot!!
  Time for Smores!
YUMM!!
These are not quite ready!
Ah!  Just the way I like them!
After a long day, it feels good to crawl into bed.
Goodnight little Bleus.
